Literacy

In literacy we have been doing rubrics every fortnight and in the blogging work shop with Ms Murnane we have learnt a new website called Edmodo. With Ms Mahon in her workshop we have been learning how to write an information report and the steps to write a full detailed report. In Mr Dando workshop we have been doing comic stops about our books. I’m really interested in information reports and I have learnt every step which you have to have a classification, description and a conclusion. We got into mini groups and wrote a classification which we did a really good job because it didn’t go into detail or explain too much we just wanted to tell the reader what was going on. I think I could improve on information reports by when describing making sure we put a lot of detail into it and make it that easy so the reader knows what part that was about. To take my learning further I could add lots more describing words and put detail into my paragraph.

In literacy we had a speaking and listening assessment which we got to pick out of a few products and do an advertisement. We got to choose our groups of four and I went with Milly, Tamika and Kiah. We got the Uncle Toby’s oats and we made up an act as well as a jingle. We all worked as at team together and made sure everyone was included as well as everyone had the same amount of acting and speaking. We learnt that if you face the audience and project your voices it’s much easier heard and makes your performance better. We could of improved on making our jingle a bit longer and catchier. We all thought that we did a great job on not laughing and taking it serious as well as facing the audience. Next time we should take our learning further by putting more details into the jingle and maybe practice a bit more.

I have been working on my Good Fit Book task from the Literacy Rubric.
For the Good Fit Book task we have to get the book what we have been reading and answer these following questions-
1. What significant event was the main character involved in?
2. What are other characters who were involved?
3. Were there any choices that the main character had to make? What were they?
4. What were the consequences of these choices?
5. Is the main Character a good role model? Why? Why not?
I chose my new book that I am only a quarter way through so I’m going from what has happened up until then. I have started Girls V The World, Things I don’t know, it is a really good book that I am interested in.
I Learnt That…
By putting your answers into sentence form makes it more challenging but makes it sound much better.
A better understanding on how to do a good fit book reflection by knowing what everything is and how to do it properly.
How to put it all in a sentence form and know what bit of the book is what.
What I Did Well…
I edited to make sure that every thing made sense and make sure that the answer matches with that question.
That every answer I had done was in a sentence form not just a quick short easy answer.
Read back over the task to make sure the questions were right and made sure I had neat hand writing.
What I Could Improve On…
I could improve on explaining the book a bit more.
Re-reading over each sentence as I’ve finished writing it incase it makes no sense at all.
Make sure my hand writing is as clear as possible.
How Can I Take My Learning Further…
By putting a few more describing words in to acutally make it a proper sentence form.
Maybe if there is a question that I dont have an answer for to actually answer that question.
If there is a whole series of a book, writing what those books of that series are called.

Thank You for reading what I have been up to in Literacy lately.
