Maths

In maths we have been learning about angles, and lots more. We now have to fill out a sheets on our strengths and wondering’s. Once we filled that out you could do a year 7 and 9 naplan or start doing a PowerPoint, iMovie or something to show you workshop on. Lexi and I are doing a workshop on addition and subtraction. We have learnt over the last few terms how to use other methods to add and subtract. We now add and subtract by using the number busting style. I thought that I have set it up really well by not making the PowerPoint slide through really fast and set it up really well. I think I could improve on explaining the strategies and knowing what I’m going to say. I think I could take my learning further by adding a test at the end top see if I have explained it well and people can understand the new way to add and subtract.

In the maths group that I have been in with Milly, Maddy, Eliza, Emily, Maddie, Brodie, Bailey, Declan, Joseph, Myself and Mr Hynes we have been working on fractions. Fractions can be easy and difficult to work with but once you get the hang of it you will be fine. As a group we worked out how to add, subtract, multiply and divide fraction with a few strategies. I think that I have a much better understanding at maths and I am not afraid if I might have the wrong answer or strategies I just want to give it my best shot. I have learnt how to do shortcuts with fractions by doing the flip flop, break down, common denominator. I think I could improve on being more confident and not so scared when I say an answer or strategies. I need to take my learning further by trying to work it out myself with a bit of help and not relying on someone like I sometimes do. I think I multiplied, divided fractions really well but sometimes struggled with adding and subtracting fractions.

I have been working in a different maths to group to everyone else with Milly,Maddy F,Maddie S,Eliza,Emily,Brodie,Declan, Joseph and Bailey.
We have been working on number patterns, multiplication, addition and subtraction, different styles and techniques to figure problems out and number lines.
I Learnt That…
There are many easier ways to solve number patterns then counting with your fingers.
If you number bust your multiplication, addition and subtraction sums you do it much quicker.
What consecutive numbers are which is a few numbers in a row that equals one answer.
What I Did Well…
I took a risk with my sums using number busting.
Getting a better understanding of everything.
Being able to talk about things I get stuck on.
What Could I Improve On…
Maybe trying a few more risks with my working out.
Not be afraid to say an answer wether it’s right or wrong.
Doing a bit more working out in my book.
How Can I Take My Learning Further…
Maybe taking more challenges.
Stepping outside of my comfort zone a bit more.
Instead of trying to do everything in my head writing some things down to help me get that answer.
